Bonding/White Fillings
Bonding is an excellent cosmetic option for patients with decayed, chipped, fractured or worn dentition. With bonding, we can close spaces between teeth, whiten stained or dark teeth, and reshape a single tooth or an entire smile.
A "white filling" is a composite resin that we use routinely as an alternative to silver amalgams to restore teeth. Since this material is adhesively bonded to your tooth structure, it requires less tooth removal than silver amalgam and is, of course, more natural looking.
Bonding Durability Although composite resins are cosmetically pleasing, easily placed, and durable, they are not as strong as indirect restorations, such as porcelain veneers or crowns. Resins typically last for many years before they begin to absorb stain. When this happens, the restoration may need to be refinished or replaced.
